Hello :-)

Im after a camera for my girlfriend who is keen to get in to photography. I have an Olympus C770 which i have found to be great, the 10x zoom is perfect for what i need. My girlfriend would love one with a zoom just as good but thinks my camera is too chunky. She would lie something a little more compact...

I went in to a shop they suggested : http://www.stevesforums.com/forums/n...hp?forum_id=87 (there are selling it for £170) which i was quit impressed with. However there are not many reviews on it so am unsure a little doubtful on long-term performance

I looked a little in to: http://www.dcviews.com/_nikon/l1.htm & http://www.dcviews.com/_pentax/svi.htm

am now even more unsure...

the only other feature that is important-ish is an optical view finder as well as the LCD one.

Hope this all makes sense, any advice would be gratefully recieved.

Thanks in advance

Hi Stewart: Add a couple more compact 5x zooms with optical finders to your list: The Olympus C5500 Sport Zoom and the Olympus C7000 Zoom. The C5500 is an excellent value for the money, and is extremely well liked by its users. The C7000 is more expensive, with a few more bells and whistles. Personally, I think the C5500 is the best deal when looking at features vs. cost.

Thanks for replying. I looked at these 1st off, but thought they still might be a little too big. But on 2nd look...!Im Kind of leaning towards the C7000 fot the compact reason. And the fact it takes aLithium Ion Battery is a plus.If anyone has anything else to add that would be great! '8)',%20'images/emoticons/laughing-smiley-009.gif')Cheers

The Olympus C-7000 is an excellent choice with 5X optical zoom and 7.0mp. I love mine and get great photos.
