Ok I have no idea what digicamera to purchase. I know that I want about 6.0 megapixels and about a 12x optical zoom. My fiance hands tremble frequently so I don't know if I need image stab. as well? I was looking and the Cannon S3 IS but I hear it has it problems as well. Let me not forget to mention that I need it under 500.00. Any help would be great help.

Take a look at the Kodak Z-612: it has 6.0mp, 12X optical zoom, very effective IS, and it is easy to use. here is a link to Steve's review of the Kodak Z-612, where he really gives it high grades.

My personal preference for the high zoom cameras (10x-12x) is one of those by Panasonic - pick the one that suits your budget. The newer models have fast startup (under 1.5 seconds). Every manufacturer has high zoom models but the rest haven't impressed me enough. Yes, the FZ-7 is a very usable outdoor camera. But in existing light shooting, ISO 200 is OK, ISO 400 is marginal.
