:?: I noticed alot of cameras on the market that are refurbished...even newer models. What are these refurbished cameras and why are there so many of them out there?

Refurbs... These are cameras (or any product) that has been returned due to a defect or malfunction. The item is repaired, tested, inspected, and is then put back for resale.

Refurbs are also perfectly good cameras returned because the customer didn't like something about it. By law it has to go back to manufacturer and then be sold as "B goods" so as not to be mixed up with brand new items. Circuit City does sell "open box" items (customer returns) but they destroy the original box. I have bought all kinds of refurb cameras and other consumer devices (Dyson vacuum cleaner) and so far they have all worked just like new items and cost about 35-50% less.
