Irrespective of which camera, for taking pictures of jewelry for online would strongly suggest a light tent. I think I got mine for around $35 of ebay (or DIY build). With it, you don't have to use the camera flash which, as direct lighting, creates a hard shadow. Offset constant lighting through diffusing material gives a soft light and removes shadows.
