I will be spending a year in Europe and am looking for a good all around digital camera which I will be using to take hopefully many different kinds of photos. I just wanted some input into which digital camera you guys would recommend? I have been researching cameras for the past 2 weeks and have two that I'm interested in, The Sony Cybershot DSC-W7 and the Canon Powershot A700. While I'm over there I will be posting almost all of my pictures online (Flickr), with some of the more memorable ones I will be printing.I'm just looking for some good input on the previously mentionedcameras or any other cameras youwould recommend. Thanks

The Canon SD-700 IS is a very good choice. If you need an alternative, look at the Sony W-100 rather than the Sony W-7. But keep in mind thatneither the W-7 or W-100 has IS whichwould be a real advantage to you, while the SD-700 does have IS. MT |

Would you take architecture photos? (lot of that in European cities)
That would require good wide angle, so in that case add Canon S80 to list, also Panasonic DMC FX01 has 28mm wide angle. Kodak V570's secondary fixed 23mm lens would be very wide but there's other shortcomings, like small battery, in camera. http://www.dcresource.com/reviews/ko...ew/index.shtml Image Stabilization helps much in lower light like sunrises/sunsets so if you intended to take more photos in those condition it would be definitely must have-feature. |
