Agree. Even though my Fuji ultracompact lacks any true manual mode I've been happy with the results. Do wish the review sites would try to map out auto exposure accuracy across a greater range of scenes. The sample shots provide some help for this purpose, but it's often difficult, if not impossible, to match up samples from different sites.

I agree, it is virtually impossible to get realistic samples that show the same scene and how each camera would handle its photo in the full automatic mode. Instead, I have chosen to show typical shots from compact cameras that handle the full automatic mode very well.

For example, the Sony H-20 when placed in the Intelligent Auto Mode can detect and set the proper Scene Mode automatically. This is a real step ahead in terms of automation.
