Ken - yes, I did notice the negative comments. The good thing about the graphs on slrgear is that they show exactly how the vignetting and sharpness vary with aperture and focal length.

Well, I just pulled the trigger on a Pentax K100D from B&H Photo. After thinking about it a little more, the 10D, although it sounds fantastic, is probably more than a rookie like myself will need. And after careful consideration and looking at reviews for days, theK100D sounds like it will fit my needs just fine.

Just wanted to thank everyone who took the time to reply. Thanks much!

I've realised that it'll be quite a while until they start dropping prices on the K10D + Sigma 18-200, so I've decided to buy a fill-in DSLR now.

In Australia they're selling the istDL + 18-50 + Ultra II 1GB for Aus$740.

Check out here… this is an elaborate review on the Canon XTI 400… I am sure this will help you understand the features and specs of it...

I won't be buying another camera without in-body Shake Reduction. It's like airconditioning - you get by without it - then you buy a car with airconditioning and you realise you can avoid the discomfort you've always put up with.

In-lens Vibration Reduction is just too expensive.
