Thanks, mtclimber.

It's killing me that my Z740 has been partly damaged and I need to find a new one.

Iron-

I still remain very happy/satisfied with the Z-612, which I feel it an excellent camera.

You say the FZ-7 felt flimsey? What are you use to cameras only made of metal? I can assure you that the FZ-7 is not flimsey at all. I know of several people that have the FZ7. Myself I have what I consider the best superzoom ever made, the Panasonic FZ30. What makes it so good is that Leica lens with 12X zoom and the sharpness of the pictures, unbelieveable. Now you would have to look at the FZ50 which is virtually the same camera as the FZ30 with 10 MP instead of 8MP. I can only assume you want a smaller camera since you were looking at the FZ7. It is a fine camera and you would not be unhappy with it. It looks like a smaller FZ30 with 6 MP and still has the wonderful Leica 12X zoom lens.

Almost like you are standing right in front of it. Very serene, very soothing.

Any way you can get the picture clearer from this this distance with your current photo equiptment? I'd like to see more.

Cheers,

I meant it felt light and to me that suggests that it might not take being dropped or bumped very well. It's just an impression I got from handling it. That's why I posted here - to get others' impressions and experiences to help me decide.

You can get a Kodak Z-740 on ebay with a 1 year Kodak guaratee fo probably less than $100, the bid is currently at $76 with 15 hours to go. That might be an option for you. Here is the link:
