Hi friends!

I´m new here, I´m looking for a compact camera for less then US$ 300,00.

I´ll buy from ebay!

What do you think about the Casio models?

They have very good reviews here in steve´s Digicams.

I´m looking for the EX-Z750 or EX-Z850, is there anything better from other brand?

The fuji F30 seems to be a little overpriced.

What more can I find in this price ? Pentax A10? Canon SD ? Sony?

Thank you.

Nobody to help a noob?

Most of the time I´ll use the camera in auto mode, but manual settings would be desirable.

Get the F30 then file the $50 rebate. The price should hover somewhere in the $230s (AR).

Yeah, several places have the F30 for around $270-275 delivered before the rebate.

After going to about 10 stores last week and playing with all their smaller cameras for several hours, it's hard for me to recommend anything other than the Fuji F30 to anybody looking for a pocket-sized camera. Nothing comes close. I guess it's because everybody else is using 1/2.5" CCDs and Fuji fit a 1/1.7" CCD in theirs.

I don't even know if I could recommend the F20, since the rebate makes the F30 only cost about $28 more. Even if you don't care about the extra settings, the F30 has the amazing 960x240 LCD and the battery lasts almost twice as long as the F20.

My general impressions were:

Fuji F20/F30 = better than everything

Panasonic FX07/FX50 = worse than everything; supposed to be ISO 1250, but terrible noise even at ISO 200

Everything else (as far as pocket-sized cameras) just seemed about the same to me. If you want something cheap I'd go with the Nikon Coolpix L3, because it's about as good as anything else.

Thank you guys!

The problem is that I´m in Brazil, and I can only buy from ebay.

The F30 seems not to be too popular on e-bay, there are few options, and they are over priced, I´ll take another look.

What do you think about the CASIO models? They have a very good price on e-bay.

Thank you.

Depends on the Casio. Their lower models are not very good, and their more expensive models are good for an ultracompact.

The Casio range is Excellent, an S or Z series model of 5MP or above would suffice quite nicely, if your looking on ebay the Fuji F10 should be looked at too.

Sony W & T series are great too.

I opted for the Sony W70, I found it for a great price here in Brazil.

I took my decision comparing the sample images here in seteves site.

The sony W series was the only one that can produce similar results compared to my old Canon A75.

Impressive how my old 3.2 Canon can handle much newer cameras with 6Mp and above, the only problem is it´s size and weight.

Thanks for everyone who tried to help.
