I plan on purchasing a camera for underwater use (free diving not scuba) . I might also use it it for everyday photos as well but that is a secondary priority. With regards to a budget I am flexible.

What I am looking for.

Compact camera.
Wide angle lens is a advantage.
Custom white balance is essential.
Ability to fit filters is important.
raw mode would be nice.
hot-shoe would be nice
Waterproof case is essential

I have been looking at a few cameras.

Olympus Sp-350.
I am not a big fan of Olympus digital cameras, due to their poor performance. But this camera has quite a nice set of features. and meets most of my needs, apart from the wide lens. But the shooting performance is quite a worry.... Would a faster XD card might improve that?.
Would love to see a new version of this camera.

Canon SD800IS.
Quite compact. 28mm lens. lacks a Filter support, hot-shoe and raw format. .

Canon PowerShot A710 IS
Bit bigger. but lacks hot-shoe and raw support. Can support filters which is nice and has comprehensive manual controls.

Canon PowerShot S70
Wide lens, Raw Support, filters. No hot shoe.
Seems better in same ways then the new S80. Would love to see a upgrade of this camera.

Fuji F30
Compact. lacks obvious filter support, Excellent ISO ability. Lacks hot-shoe and Raw and wide lens. I am still quite fond of this camera.

Fuji FinePix E900
Quite a nice camera. Meets most of my needs. Has a slightly wider then average lens. Lacks hot shoe, and no fuji underwater case. Shame about the amount of MP.

Panasonic DMC-LX2
Wide angle lens, and Raw Support compact.

Canon PowerShot G7 / G6
Meets most of my needs but quite large.

So... is there any suggestions/advice. Is there a camera (except for the Leica M8 8) ) that meets all of my needs?

You can go with so many cameras for underwater when using the aftermarket casings. The new Canon G7 will have a case right away. No RAW, but has the hotshoe, all the settings available, hot shoe, and can take filters with the adapter. It's not going to be real compact....maybe about the size of the A710.

Hey, I totally forgot. Their is a forum here that is dedicated to underwater cameras. That would be the best place to look.

Thanks, the G7 does look nice. Just a shame that it is lacking RAW format support.

I would read the underwater forum also.
