My wife is wanting a camera to do "Time-lapse photography" with.

She wants to be able to set it in front of some of her flowers and set it to take pictures all day at given interverals....15 min,30 minutes etc. Her friend has an Nikon Coolpix 8700 that does that and turns all the frames into a timelapse quick time movie. Is any thing like that still being made? Thanks for any help!

Sounds cool, I really wouldn't know, I'd be interested in seeing the outcome if you find a camera that will do the job.

Hi there,

Many expensive digital SLR cameras have "interval timer" function for time lapse photography. However, when I search the web with these keywords for cheaper point & shoots, I can only find Nikon (the P series and newest S series) and Pentax (Optio W10 and W20) which have this function.

I believe the Canon 3S IS can do time lapse of 2 to 100 photos at intervals of 1 to 60 minutes. I believe that you need to leave the camera on (so you'd need an AC adapter).

Not sure if the 2S does it, too.
