I am trying to decide about the replacement camera for my old Optio 6 that won't work. I like the way the display looks and all the features of the Canon SD700IS and the 600, but not sure if the stabilizing feature is worth the extra $$. I could use some help here! I already have a Canon Rebel XT so just looking for a small vacation camera that takes great indoor outdoor shots and has a better display.

Itoo had always been a person who felt that IS in cameras with less than 5X optical zoom was wasted money. However, after using a camera with IS I became rather amazed how my photos became decidedly sharper. IS really does work and it is worth the extra cost.

The canon SD series cameras have one of the highest drop rates, due to their small size, so be sure to always use a wrist strap. Camera drops are almost always fatal.A wrist strap is cheap insurance.
