Hi Irene. Hate to say it but really cannot see any difference. Maybe the F31fd is a bit sharper. Sarah will be back soon and she will probably be more help. Glad you have more or less made up your mind. Today I finally sent in a rebate that came with the SD card and put the box away- in other words I am going to keep the camera. We are going to Switzerland and France in the Spring and now I have to make the decision of whether to take my little pocket and my Fuji S5200 which I feel is a bit bulky to lug around. I am getting a bit tired of decisions - but realize I am lucky I have a choice. Post some more as you experiment. That might be my next model if I find out I can get along without a viewfinder.

Hi Shari,

style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #000000"Congratulations on your decision! You may want to bring both cameras to Switzerland. They'd certainly both have their place. Of course, keep in mind that *I* wouldn't be willing to lug a heavy camera, so I understand if you nee to leave it behind!

style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #000000"As I'm reading this I realize that I would have been better off NOT putting it through Neat Image. I will repost the pix without noise removal. That'll have to wait for later - work beckons!

Hi Rinnie,

Here are the pics. Same office location and lighting. Both pix were taken auto, no flash - I reset and reformatted the f30 before taking the picture. And in the case of theF31,face detection was off. This is a fairly dark room. One thing at 2 people besides me noticed: The f30 camera pic is brighter, but much less sharp, while the f31 is a bit darker, but with improved sharpness over the f30.
