I've had a Sony DSC-W1 Digital Camera (2004) for a few years. I have been relatively happy with it.

Relatively ... because I find its photos really are not razor sharp ... and it's kind of difficult to use manual options like aperture or speed priority.

The "Image stability" feature I read about seems like it would be useful too. And of course I don't like the shutter lag., But, really, its the lack of sharpness.

I'm wondering what kind of improvements I could expect in a new digital camera. While i know the technology has improved over a few years ago - but what are the benefits to an "advanced"-point and shooter like me?
