I shoot mostly with a dSLR but I'm looking for a good affordable camera I can put in my pocket and take everywhere. I already have a bunch of CF and SD cards and would like to stick with those if possible. Currently considering the Casio Z750 and Canon A710. I'm tempted by the Fuji F30, especially since it's coming down in price, but I'd rather not start buying xD cards. Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks!

I have the Z750 for exactly what you describe. My only wish is that it went wider as you can tell from this thread.

I have a 710, and love it.

Well it seems to me that the biggest difference between the 710, and other two would be:

- 6x vs 3x zoom
- 2AAs vs Li-ion proprietary
- Image Stabilization

All three where top priorities for me when I purchased, but they also come with a downside.... they add to the size/weight.

While the 710 is considered compact, I would not consider it a "pocket" camera good for a shirt or pants pocket. It's fine for a belt pouch, jacket pocket, or any size bag/purse, however.

The 710, like its "bigger brother" the S3IS, are very versatile cameras and make great "only cameras," but of course, rich feature sets come with size penalties.

Since you already have, and mostly shoot with, the dSLR, I would advise going for a smaller camera than the 710 that is truly pocketable. Your call though... I do love this 710.

Thanks, VinnyP and reppans for your replies. I've been reading lots of reviews and forum posts, and it seems that nobody makes the pocket camera so many of us are looking for. Not yet anyway...
