wife wants a digital with 1-button ...shutter...*smile*...i'm being over simplistic but she doesn't want all the junk that comes with 'turn this on' and 'turn this on'...i think the only must would be an 'image stabilizer' is why i'm leaning towards the fuji's 'rpt's' ...any other ideas?????

passer-by-

Please keep in mind that no Fuji digital camera yet has true, optically basedIS, or image stabilization. Panasonic dominates the IS equipped camera field. Why not take a look at Steve's "Best Camera" list.

I think Canon has added image stabilization to some of their point and shoot cameras. However, I don't think it's on any of the bottom of the line models, meaning that the IS also comes with all the "bells and whistles" that your wife doesn't want.

True, but Canons do have a decent enough Auto mode that she would never have to delve into the more advanced settings.

passer-by, what's your price range? The Canon A710IS is a very good camera with IS.

I like the Panasonic FX07, partly because it has that nice 28mm wide angle. But I'd also suggest giving the Sony DSC-T10 a look.

thanks all...will look at all suggestions...i've kept the IM at the top of the list just because it's the one thing i can believe would be a truly 'point and shoot' item as an 'auto' mode is fine if you take the time to lock the shutter...*smile*...which my wife isn't likely to do...i'm thinking about the $200-$250 range
