Fill flash - this will also show that while IS is useful it can't entirely make up for shutter speed.

Whoa, the Z612's stabilizer is really good! I've played around with stabilized digicams before, but I never managed to get anything that good at 1/10 of a second...
And the picture quality is great!
I got one from eBay (in a package including a 1gb SD card, a mini tripod and various other bits) for $280 shipped (after the euro-conversion, it comes at around €215... and shops around here have the gall to charge €320 for the camera alone).
Thanks!

The part that really surprised me is how well the auto white balance worked. The available light in the first two shots was an overhead florescent, no special bulbs just what was cheap. I didn't tweak the color at all. Imagine the shade of green these would have been back when we used film.

Sounds like you got a good price. Hope it does well for you. Post some pictures when you get a chance. I'd like to post more but with my current 60 hr. week haven't had much time. The pictures in this post were taken as a break from grading papers. The vase is in my home office/computer room
