[align=left]HI,
I am a novice and I live in Phoenix, AZ. It gets hot. I would like the folllowing on my camera
1. good optical (10X if possible)
2. Image stablization
3. Optical viewfinder (sun is to bright for screen)
4. AA batteries if possible, but not necessary. The heat runs down a battery fast out here.
5. Durable (Are any digital's truly durable?)
6. at least 5x megs
7. Good macro (important)
8. I don't know one thing about F stops etc. Completely studpit!
9. Probably won't be printing that many photos, mostly for e-mailing)
10. No SLRs! They are way out of my league.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Would like a small camera, but do know that is out with wanting a good optical zoom. Thanks again for direction. Honestly I think I am probably asking for too much. gle56

This is my first time at posting so I hope i find my way back.

I have the canon S3...great camera, I'm not much for SLR's right now and this super zoom works great for me.

Kodak Z612 also meets your requirements except for AAs and has a really good price/performance ratio. 12x, eye level viewfinder, IS, 6MP, has a fairly effective auto mode plus numerous scene modes for $200-$250.
