I am trying to decide between the SD 800IS, the SD 900, or the SD 1000. Which would be best?

Best for what application? What types of pictures do you plan on taking? Indoor...outdoor...portraits...landscapes... No one camera is 'best'. Best for you and best for me are most likely very different.

The only thing I can tell from your post is that you apparently are looking for an ultra-compact format, and you have only considered the Canon brand. Does that mean you won't consider a larger camera if it offers the features you are looking for...or another brand? What is your price range?

I am looking for a compact camera basically for every day use. I will be using it for daily uses. I would consider a bigger camera, but I really do like the compacts.

OK, let me try this another way...

Which Chevy should I get? I'm trying to decide between the Impala, the Corvette, and the Silverado. Which one is best? I'm going to use them for everyday use.

It was a rhetorical question, and you are wrong, gerrydee.

Steve's is the best.

I'm new to digital cameras, and I'm also considering the SD 800IS, the SD 900, or the SD 1000. The camera is for family use, travel...etc. I like to take photos of scenery, sometimes with people in the foreground and basic family photos.

A friend returned from a trip with some great scenic photos (The Andes). Some were used as a backgound on her monitor at work (30" Dell LCD). The picture fills the entire screen, it's very crisp and clear. The camera is a Canon S70.

The camera would also be used by my wife and teenage kids, so it can't be to complex. The price range should be around the the SD800IS.
