Hi everyone, A few months ago, I got a lot of helpful advice about choosing a dSLR. I just wanted to say thanks and that I am extremely happy with my Nikon d40. It suits my needs perfectly for taking indoor photos of my young children. I attached a photo takenwith the d40. Thanks again!

I didn't have anything to do with your camera decision. But, I noticed your photo and thought I'd let you know something (if you're not already aware of it).

You've got Exposure Compensation set to a -EV Setting (you've got it set to expose 2/3 stop darker than it normally would). That's why that image is somewhat dark. Just move your exposure compensation settings back where the needle on the scale is centered again if you want normal versus underexposed images in the same conditions.

I'm glad your enjoying your camera and I hope you get lots of great photos of the kids.

Thanks Jim. I will make that change. I'm still learning the controls on this thing so I appreciate the input.
