I am looking for the forum's advice on the best camera for creating printed brochures? I plan to have these items sent out to a press. All the pictures will be done outside in the AZ sun. Most topics will be of silver or white roofs. Can anyone offer some advice?

Thanks,

Steve

How large will the pictures be? Are we talking a tri-fold brochure or a catalog?

The largest will be 8 x 11 but 99 percent of the time around 5 X 7.

Tri and Bi-fold mostly.

Thanks,

While DSLRs are the most versatile of digital cameras and can be equipped to any task many point and shoot (P&S) cameras will also handle the task. Printing 8x11 is not particularly arduous if one starts with a good photograph. The conditions you describe, very bright light and highly reflective surfaces present the photographic challenges. While DSLRs will handle the bright lighting easily specular reflections are best handled with a polarizing filter which in turn will also prevent brightness overload on a P&S sensors.

With that in mind any of the cameras on Steve's Best Cameras in the super-zoom or the 6-10MP grouping, link below, will handle the job nicely with the caveat that a polarizing filter can be adapted to the camera:

All the super-zooms have adapters to take a polarizing filter and at least the Canon G7 in the 6-10 MP group.
