I love my S5200 but it has a problem with the display and is not under warrenty. They have estimated around $150-$200 to repair plus shipping. I am sure I can find a replacement for not much more than that. Should I repair it or just bite the bullet and get a replacement. If so, what would you recomment to replace this camera on a similar level??

Thanks in advance for any recommendations!!!

You can get a new S5200 online for less than $250 online. As an alternative replacement, you could consider the Fuji S6000fd, which is superior to the S5200 in low light, and has a manual focus ring.It also has a nice wide angle maximum of 28mm. There's a 50 buck rebate on it till the end of next month, which would bring the price down to about $260 online after rebate. However, it's bigger than the S5200 and lacks a little at the telephoto end (300mm vs the 380mm of the S5200). If you shoot mostly in daylight, you might take a look at the Kodak Z612 with its 12X optical zoom lens and speedy performance. It can be gotten for less than $200 on Ebay.

Design,

I agree with robbo - get a new camera. If you really like the S5200 - buy another one. Or, you might consider the new Fuji S700, which according to Fuji, is a refinement of the S5200. Warning: I haven't seen a single professional review of this cam yet, and I see they crammed 2 more MP into it without increasing the size of the sensor.

Or, you might consider (as robbo suggested) the S6000FD, which is definitely a step up, for less money than the S700. Wider angle lens, higher ISO capability, and manual zoom ring are three big improvements.

Sorry to hear about your S5200...good luck with finding a replacement.

I just checked Fuji Canada's website and the S700, at$299 is$200 cheaper than the S6000fd and about $50 cheaper than the S5200, which is still listed as a current model. It should be quite a bit cheaper in terms of US $. From what I can tell so far, the S700 is only superficially similar to the S5200 as it seems to have a smaller form-factor and a much different layout/design. It adds some features the S5600 doesn't have (video zooming, 7 MP, bigger/higher resolution LCD/EVF, more auto modes) and takes away a few others (no EVF diopter dial, no Focus Mode selector, much narrower shutter-speed range)

Sorry, I was mistaken regarding the price of the S700 - I thought it was more expensive. The current price for the S6000FD at Beach Camera is 308.29, less the $50 rebate, results in a price of $258.29. The S700 is $215.59 at Beach. The S5200 is no longer available at Beach.

So, let me rephrase my statement...Or, you might consider (as robbo suggested) the S6000FD, which is definitely a step up, for only $42.70 more than the S700 (unless you live in Canada).
