I am interested in getting a digital camera as a gift for my parents. They are celebrating there 30th wedding anniversary later this month and going to Las Vegas from Canada to celebrate. Overall they will be taking more outdoor photos then indoor. And also a lot of photos in low light. The 3 cameras I am interested in are Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T100, Canon PowerShot SD 850 IS, and Canon PowerShot S5 IS(I understand that it is not released yet). The main criteria for me is image quality. If the Canon Powerwshot S5 IS has the same image quality as the first 2, then I would probably chose it because of the megazoom. What do you think is the better camera and why?

With the price of the Canon S-3IS now below $(US) 300.00, I would certainly think that it should be very high on your priority list.

I am possibly interested in the Canon Powerwshot S5 IS(estimatedrelease date is Jun 15)not the Canon S-3IS. Which retails for around $549 cdn.

Consumer Report magazine just picked the Canon S-2IS as their top digicam choice in their July 2007 issue. The Canon S-5 will not be that much different and it will cost you more Canadian dollars.

Here is a photo sample from the canon S-2IS which is still available brand new.
