I understand what you mean.

Right now I'm thinking wether the difference of 80-100€ is worth it.
I don't know how big the difference in noise is.
Steve said the 612 is really good, and so did many others. Otherwise the 712 seems to be better, but I can't find just one review.

Doesn't anyone have both of them and knows which one is better?
I heard the akku in 712 is bad, is that true?
Thx!

First I'd download the PDF version of the manual from Kodak's site. It's often qucker to search the PDF version for a topic on your computer rather than trying to find the info in the paper version but do read the manual.

Next I'd turn Quickview off. Quickview displays the picture you just took for 5 seconds which really gets in the way if you're shooting action. Instructions for turning that off are on pgs. 36 and 37 in the paper manual.

Batteries - I have two KLIC8000 rechargeable LiIons and Kodak's charger. There may be cheaper alternativesbut I have been well satisfied withthe KLIC8000 performance. I also carry two non-rechargeable CVR3 LiIons. Bit of an overkill on the CVR3s but they have a 10 year self life. If you have only one rechargeable a CVR3 will keep the clock/calendar alive while you recharge your rechargeable.

That my starting advice. The folks in the Kodak forum here are quite willing to answer operational questions and frequently post interesting photos: http://forums.steves-digicams.com/fo...orum.php?id=18.

Ron Baird, a Kodak rep. monitors the forum as he has time and frequently provides data that you can count on.

Hello you all!

I just wanted to tell you THANK YOU SO MUCH for all your great advice!!!!!

I looked through all my holiday pictures and thei're simply amazing!

This camera is so great! I took the ixus with me too, and you can't compare the pics, the Kodak takes pictures so clear and sharp, and the IS works perfectly well even inside pictures without flash are superp!

Thanks so much, I'm so happy with this cam
