That was the point I was trying to make. The D-40X is an autofocus body.

I believe that, though the terminology he used wasn't technically correct, the point arcnel was trying to make was that the D40x doesn't have an internal autofocus motor like most other dSLRs. And while he (incorrectly) included the D80 in that category, if that's what he meant, he is correct about the D40x.

And I invite arcnel to comment.

Have you considered the PENTAX K100D or the K10D? They have the built in SR(shake reduction) and do not need the expensive c or n IR lens
