I want to buy my mum her first ever digital camera for her birthday a week Friday, but I'm not sure what to get. She's isn't that great with technology so it needs to be very simple and easy to use and able to take great photos on the auto settings, as she's probably likely to use little or no other settings / modes.
A large, bright screen would be good as most of her photos will be taken outside and nothing with buttons exceptionally small or she'd struggle. Be nice to have a fairly wide angle lense and one that can take photos in widescreen 16:9 format if possible as she's got a 20" widescreen Dell 2007WFP. Looking to pay £100-200ish preferably including a gig or two of memory card.
Was initially considering a Fujifilm F31fd, as I nearly bought that myself recently before opting for the smaller Z5fd, but though the F31fd has fantastic low light permormance most of her shots will be of outdoors nature and landscape shots and there are probably other cameras more adept at such conditions. Perhaps a Cannon SD700 IS? Or one of the Panasonic Lumixes? Though I've seen some negative comments about the image quality on those.
Been meandering through various sites reviews for different cameras but haven't come much of a decison so thought I'd ask for advice - any advice or suggestions?
