I looked at all the existing threads and didn't see anything about this. I want to buy a new digital camera primarily for taking close-up and macro photographs. I want something that has a great meter and takes sharp photos. I don't care about zoom. While I have several SLRs, none are digital. My only digital is a point & shoot Sony with a lot of features, but I've used the heck out of it and it is wearing out. I've considered getting a DSLR but frankly don't need the capability. If I buy a non-DSLR I don't want t spend more than $400. Any more than that and I'll seriously consider a DSLR.

Brand names? Models? Thank-you in advance. --Mark

Read the review on Steve's Best Cameras list: http://www.steves-digicams.com/best_cameras.html and when you have a short list re-ask the question. The truth is there aremany cameras that meet your requirements.
