Hi everyone,

This is my first post, but i've been reading alot of threads for about a month.
I am very new to photography and have alot to learn. I do own a Canon A450, which i bought about a month just for taking photo's for ebay auctions.

I have found out there's a place here in Australia that has a Kodak Easyshare DX7590 for 70-80% off the RRP.
I think they have just found it sitting in their storeroom, and because it's a few years old they have heavily discounted it.
It is new, and comes with all the accessories except for the docking station.

To be honest, i know absolutely nothing about this camera, but like everyone, i hate seeing a bargain pass me by.

Could i please get some expert advise, on either, why i should or shouldn't buy this camera. What are the pro and cons with this model? Or, should i stick with the Canon until i learn more about using cameras?
I really am in a dilema and having a fight with myself on whether i should get it or not.

Thanks in advance.

P.S. My main interest is to eventually take some decent outdoor/ wildlife/animal shots.
It would also be great, if i could get some opnions within the next few hours, as i don't think the camera will be around for that long.

It is a nice camera for 90% off. There are several reviews and it seemed to be well liked. Dave over at Imaging Resource made it a Dave's Pick. And Steve seemed to like it.

You might take Steve's advice and try to find an eyecup that will fit it. I have found that necessary with a couple cameras I've had. And since Steve singled that out it is likely to be a lot better in bright sunlight with an eyecup.

Movies will be a bit jerky at 12fps. Other than that the specs look OK and the Schneider lens looks to be quite good.

Thanks for the quick reply slipe.

I'll check out the review at Imaging Resource.

I forgot to ask, is it also good for indoor shots?

Funnily enough, the Kodak will be alot cheaper than what i paid for the Canon.
I paid AU$148 for the Canon and the Kodak is AU$98
Here in Oz, camera prices like everything else, are normally quite expensive.

The top ISO setting is 400, so it may not be great in low light. However, you can attach an external flash and that should give you decent illumination for a fair distance.

For $98 Australian, it's a bargain. Get it. You will like your first superzoom.

Thanks robbo. I'll keep that in mind about the external flash.

Just got back from the store. It was priced down from $600 -> 399 -> $98.
At that price i couldn't walk out of the store without buying it.:-)

Since i basically know nothing about photography, there's nothing like diving headfirst into the deep end.

Go here: http://www.dcresource.com/reviews/kodak/dx7590-review/

It's sometimes easier to read reviews in a one page format. Look at the ISO 400 shot if you are interested.

Anyway, good luck! I bet you will enjoy your new camera.

Thanks again for the link robbo.

I see what you mean with the ISO 400 shot. Not too good is it.

I have 1 more hour of battery charging, then i'll be able to have a little play with it. Can't wait to try it out. :-)
