I went to circuit city to pick up a new memory card and of course had to check out all the cameras. As I went from camera to camera the one that stood out from a feel standpoint, the powershot S5. It looks like a camera, feels like a camera, and is very responsive. I've checked out the Oly Sp 550 and it seems to get a mediocre response on the forums so I've been holding off for a look at the new pany 18x. Although the S5 is only 12x it has the option like most for a teleconvertor or macro add on, a hot shoe, and compared to all the others it has one of the closest feels to an SLR if that is what you are looking for. It doesn't support raw from what I understand but I rarely use that. Does anyone have one and what are your experiences with it as far as picture quality or other issues. I've heard some good reviews on the kodak z 712 but they didn't have one on display there.

Good luck getting any kind of sharp shot at 18x with such a small aperature camera I should thank.

esharri-

The Canon S-5 has its supporters and its detractors. www.dpreview.com does have a review on the Canon S-5 that you might want to check out. The Canon S-3IS has come down considerably in price, making it an excellent buy with none of the S-5 problems.
