I started researching today, but i seem to have my answer. Though I hate buying something with more reasearch, but unlike other products I don't know where to go for digital cameras.

So this is what I'm looking for:
ultracompact camera
SD card
Optical viewfinder (optional but a plus)
it also has to be good xD
oh right... price. $0-$250

With with these specs. I found the Canon PowerShot SD1000

Cnet gave it a good review. and after a lil researching, i'm leading towards that. what do you guys think? thanks for your opinions.

The Canon SD 1000 looks to be an excellent camera. If you need a second opinion, there is a review on the camera over at http://www.dcresource.com.

The only comparable camera that comes to mind is the Olympus Stylus 780, but it does not have an optical viewfinder. There is a review of that camera over at http://www.megapixel.net.

Although a bit larger, the Canon A-710IS is also an excellent camera and it does have an optical viewfinder and it can be used with the CHDK modification giving it a raw mode, as well as a live histogram, etc.
