It amazes me that the S5 has dropped $150.00 in two months.

I bought mine for my July 9 cruise for $428.00 at Amazon and thought I had stolen it. Of course I do the same thing in the stock market all the time.

Should I be bitter???:-)

Perhaps. It has been a steep drop and quickly at that. Simple supply and demand. Too much product for the demand. Didn't help that the S3 is still being sold. The FZ-8, while also having dropped a bit, has still retained much of its original value.

It sounds like you got a great deal. Tell us how you did it?

That's awesome! Gee, do you think you could negotiate a new Lamborghini Murcielago LP 640 Coupe for me? I'd like to keep the price down under $15,000, if possible.

Thanks!

Me too, rinnie!

After getting your car, foxx could probably get us each a Nikon D-40 kit with a Nikon 70-300mmVR lens for around $(Cdn) 400.00, at least I am hoping. You know, rinnie, he really has a silver tongue. I sort of sensed that from the very beginning.

Foxx, I offer my apologies for the humor, but there is a certain limit to which any dealer will/can reduce his prices, and just for the record, $(Cdn) 250.00 for a brand new Canon S-5IS is so far/well below the dealer's cost, so much so,that he could not stay in business.

The price of the Canon S-5IS has fallen as of 09/04 to $(US) 349.95 at B&H! that should be food for thought!

I had never heard of B & H. Just checked them out. They say they have a rebate also. And no tax for me. I could save almost $90! And I checked out their ratings and very positive. Think my Canon is going back to Circuit City this week end!
Thanks for the heads up!

Certainly the first thing to look for is a very good external flash. A lot of folks have selected the Canon EX-430.
