Requiremnts looking for

AA batteries, 7mp, 6 x zoom, with eqiv 28mm, IS,reasonably compact, prefer manual and auto modes but not 100% essential, view finder and fast flash recycle time. Was looking at the canon A710IS and even the new A650IS, A720IS and SX100IS, but they all have slow flash cycle times. Is there anything else out there that has the requirements above but with a faster flash cycle time

Appreciate comments.

Unfortunately such camera doesn't exist. some cameras have 28mm (35mm equiv.) at wide end, some have 6x zoom, some have AA batteries, some are compact... Bot none as far as I know, incorporates all of your requirements in one body

From what I heard, cameras using AA batteries (particularly when they use only 2) are often slow to recycle flash. The 2 AA cameras I used (Fuji E500, Canon A520) were a nightmare in that department.

There is also the Panasonic LZ7 that could fit your requirement, and the recycle flash time seems to be better than the Canon:
"Another thing that works well (and surprisingly so) is the flash recycle time, which is shorter than Canon can extract from their 2-AA battery cameras." (About the LZ6)

Thanks for the feed back, thought there had to be a draw back withthe AA bats.

Will have a look at what you have suggested.

It was a wish list and hadn't been able to match the list with a camera - unless i had been missing something. Thanks for comment
