I am involved in an artifact processing operation where I need to be able to track up to 2,000 images a day (primarily coins). I have written a database front end that will pull streamed images from a web cam, but their resolution is not as good as we require.

I have seen it mentioned that I need to use a camera that is twain enabled.
The maximum resolution that I need is 3.1 megapixels.
FPS is not important. Resolution is.
It can be either USB or firewire.

There are a number of real high end labrotory grade systems available, but we are trying to go with something off the shelf and as cheap as possible.

Any suggestions?

Take a look at Camera for Lab.

Will that do what you want?

I need something that can be accessed with VFW or TWAIN as we will process and reference up to 2,000 images a day. The Canon cameras are nice but I've had issues hooking into their software.

Canon A75 is 3 megs and it looks like it is twain compatible.

You also need to download a twain driver for A75from, for instance, :

Please also have a look at this software for Oly and Canon, as you may use more recent cameras like G7 or SP-700 for doing the same:

And eventually, for Oly and Canon:

Good luck
