It seems that the price has gone up as well recently.

Also, has anyone heard about the F45fd? It has more MP, so it may not be as good as the F31fd, but I am wondering is it still better than the competition? Also, does it have manual controls?

Contriver-

Yes, the Fuji F-31fd is hard to find and as it has become more scarce, it has become more expensive. It seems to me that I read that the F-45 was done for either Walmart or some large chain like Ritz Cameras. I could be wrong about the F-45, but that is what I recall.

I just called my local Ritz dealer and they are out of stock on the F31fd, but the price they have in the system is $329. They do have the F45fd and its only $249. Why is the F45fd actually cheaper than the F31fd?

Because the F31fd, though older and with fewer megapixels, is famous for its great low light capabilities. I think the F45fd is a special version of the F40Fd, which is good, but not as good in low light. I have the F20, which is great low light and which has a very sharp lens. That camera you can get recertifed or refurbished very cheaply.

Wow, you would think Fuji must be aware of this situation. Hopefully they will act on it. You would think they'd be foolish not to.

In any case, thats a tough call, I really want a small camera that has good low light capabilities and manual controls. I figured that I would just keep waiting and at the end of lifecycle, the F30 and F31 would be cheaper, not more expensive LOL. The F20 seems like a great camera (definately for the price), but I would like the ability to be creative with control over the shutter speed and aperature.

In the UK, Amazon are selling the F31fd at £117, less than half its original price. I couldn't resist and bought one recently for its low light capability, and have not been disappointed. Strange that its easily available in the UK but not in the US.

I just checked Amazon again and the only thing I can find is a used one for $353 and another USED one for $733.01!?

I wish we had that same deal you got, that would translate to only $159!

Contriver-

Consider E-Bay UK, and pay the extra shipping. It might be worth it!
