:?I have been looking to purchase one of these cameras. I want something with a long zoom, but am not concerned as much if it is 12x or 10x. I would like something that takes a good picture indoors in low light in addition to nice outdoor shots. To me, both of these cameras are comparable in so many ways. I'd appreciate any thought to help me make a decision.

tonna-

If I were given the choice of either the Kodak Z-712 or the Fuji S-700, I would instantly choose the Kodak Z-712. The Z-712 has 12X optical zoom, IS or image stabilization and is much more capable at high ISO settings such as ISO 800 than the non IS equipped S-700 which struggles at ISO 400.

You might ask: How do I know? Well, I know because I own and use both cameras actively. Here is a sample Kodak Z-712 photo that was taken handheld, using the camera's built-in flash unit at a distance of 35 feet.
