I have two girls (6 & 8). Who makes the best compact for action shots?

Just for a reference I currently own a Nikon coolpix 5700 and a pentax optio 10 underwater camera. I happy with both cameras for what they do, BUT I would really like to be able to take faster shots.

( ex. Kid going down a slide, swinging a bat etc…)
I understand I will probably never get to the speed of SLR unless I buy a SLR but is there anything that is noticeably faster? Just another big gripe and I am not sure what the correct term is for it, when I take a picture the view finder goes blank until it is ready for another shot. It is almost impossible to follow your subject when the view finder is blank. Does somebody make a camera where the view finder stays on, I understand I will not be ready to take a picture any sooner but at least I will be able to follow the subject until the camera is ready.

Why don't you look for a cheap 6 MP DSLR like Nikon D40 or D50 or Canon 300D.

They are faster than any P&S superzooms and the CCD's are much more larger to have detailed images...And their viewfinders doesn't go blank....

A DSLR with a example:18-135mm kit lens will be the best for you...
