For what it's worth, American Photo [ http://www.popphoto.com/americanphoto/] selected the Nikon D80 as runner-up for it's Editors Choice award for Advanced DSLRs for 2007(See http://www.popphoto.com/cameras/4358...nikon-d80.html), but selected the Canon 30D as runner-up for it's Editors Choice award for Advanced DSLRs for 2006 (See http://www.popphoto.com/cameras/2402...30d-page2.html).

They're both very good cameras. You won't go wrong with either of them.

Canon 30D less MPs...body more solid...great selection of lens...great pictures

Nikon D80...more mps...body doesn't seem as solid to me.....great selection of lens..great pictures

Both great camera...but a buddy has a 30D...the pictures in RAW are tremendous...the camera feels pro or semi pro quality

I'm a Pentaxian...but if I was choosing I would go for the 30D....try both the cameras..you may find the 30D a bit heavy

Pentaxian has been in use for a very long time - I have a book about Pentax cameras that was published in the 1980's that uses the term.

I have been a Pentaxian since '68, although as Mtngal says the term is relatively recent.

I have 3 Pentax Slr 35s..my S1a, bought in '68, my ES11 bought in '74 and my wife's k1000, she bought in '81.

All work, just fine.

Oh dear.

Please don't tell me that I'm a "Canonian" and have been for years without even knowing it!

I shall have to switch systems just because that's such an ugly word.

You're right. I'm sorry. 'Pentaxite' is what Pentaxs are made out of. :-)
