I'm just beginning to shop for my first digital camera, and I know I'll need a really good owners manual. Any opinions about certain brands that have better than average manuals. How about the ones to avoid.

Thanks for your help.

If you go to www.dcresource.comand look at the reviews of Jeff, he usually comments on the quality of the owner's manuals.

You can download the manuals at the manufacturers' websites, too.

If you want an easy to use camera, Kodak usually specializes in those.

Speaking personally, the quality of the owner's manual is a minor consideration for me when I shop for a camera. No, I am not a mechanical or photographic super smart person. From my experience, though, it seems to me that the quality of owner's manuals is decent for all the major manufacturers. What is a little bit of a pain, sometimes, though, is that some manufacturers don't include a paper copy (hard copy) of the owner's manual. Instead they put it in a file on a CD which they include in the box with the camera. A few make you download the manual from their website.

If owner's manuals are important to you, I suggest going to the manufacturer's websites and checking the manuals for the cameras that seem interesting to you.
