well, looking at all the specs, and the reviews, it looks like the fuji s8000fd is probably the best amongst similar cameras for low light/indoor (classroom type) photographs.

I am considering it now, in place of the can. s5 or fuji 6000

I will have to get my hands on one first and check out the auido reception of the mic, but I am struggling to find any good reviews or photos to verify that it is significantly better than competition at higher ISO (400 in particular, but even 800 looks like it could produce credible 4X6 after some noiseware, though 1600 seems pretty unusuable)

am I getting confused or is that the case?

There is a full review of the Fuji S-8000 over at www.dpreview.com.

Thanks, I had checked there first actually but wasn't finding it...I guess I have looked at so many cameras now I am getting myself confused:P

it is too bad that they couldn't use that super CCD sensor, buthonestly I am kind of liking the s8000 anyway, especially for the price break over the fz18, and it seems to me that it may work well enough in overhead lighting for my purposes...

but the s6000 is def in the mix and I have opened up the search to some 3X cameras as well.

other than that I am just reading through every other model camera I can find. I have read a bunch of your post at this point, many by you Sara! thanks again! if you have any good advice for me, let me know!

xmas-

If you want to not use flash on some of your indoor shots, then the Fuji S-6000 is probably the better choice.
