Hello,
I have read a lot of information here. ..... Luckily. My wife is very into being an amature photographer. She has had a Nikon N65 for a long time. She has multiple lenses, fitlers, and such. I was going to buy the D40 for her, but (thank you) I read about the lense problem here. I want to get just a camera body so her lenses work with both cameras. I do not know much about camera's. I think here lenses are D's, because I say a "D" on one of them. I know the D80 would work, but that is a big jump in price range. Will any of the other companies (Sony, fuji, cannon) camera's work with the lenses? What are some good suggestions for camera's for her? Any suggestions, iformation, links, etc would be helpful and appreciated.

Unfortunately, the D80 is the lowest priced Nikon dSLR, on which her lenses willprobably be fully functional.

See the Nikon Knowledge Database.

Nikon lenses will also work on FujiFilm dSLRs, but they're even more expensive.

how is that unfortunate if they will be fully functional?

It's unfortunate that the D80 is the least expensive Nikon dSLR on which the lenses will be fully functional.

That is, the D40 andD40x are less expensive, but the lenses she has won't be fully functional on either of them. If he wants to buy her a dSLR that will be fully functional with her existing lens collection, he needs to pay for the more expensive D80, and that's unfortunate.

Tcav,
Thank you for the info. I agree with your assesment. I was ready to spend the money for the D40. I will continue to look and save for the D80. I have found it for about $775 at the best for the body only.
