Hi. I sell rare books/documents and need to take really good, clean images with lots of detail. I used to have an Olympus C-3030, bought about ten years ago for a lot of money, and loved it. It ended up dropped from a high surface and broke. My husband bought me a Casio EX-Z75. I hate it. No matter what I do I cannot get good, crisp images of books. He thinks it's because I don't know how to use it. I think it's because the camera is substandard. The one thing that seems appealing about the Casio is its video capacity.

So I'd like recommendations for a camera that works well with mac OSX, takes the kind of close-ups I need for work, but also takes great regular pix of kids, etc., and has a better video capacity than the C3030. (I'm also considering buying a used C3030 to get me through until I find the right new digital model.)

What I'd really love is to have an idea of whether any $200-$300 models meet my requirements (i.e., what's the least I can pay to get what I need), and next the best in the $300-$400 range.

Thank you very much for any advice!

The Fuji F50fd is a 12 megapixel camera with the Fuji superccd sensor. It takes the sharpest pictures in low-light of any small camera. To do better, you'd have to get a DSLR.

For the amount you want to pay, I think the Fuji would be your best bet.
