Nabhitech

I just did what you described a few years ago with a Canon A85 and saved the images in a pdf file. I was worried about the shutter wearing out but that camera is still healthy and doing fine. I recommend using an IS camera that is available now.

Hi Nabhitech

I did about 3000 shots. The reason I did not use a scanner was speed. Once you do your setup, it is so much fasterto go through a book or pile of document with a camera than a scanner.

I would notbuy a very expensive camera for this purpose unless you want to be crystal sharp on very small text.

The Canon imageRUNNER 2016i copier can create 16 PDF documents per minute directly onto your computer or network file server.

And it's the slowest one.

1- Send the money to a student in the US (or TCAV) to purchase the hardware and visit you at your place along with the harware. Good for your future identical contracts. Speed, quantity, quality, not good on cost.

2- Take the million documents, and a plane to the USA. Rent TCAV customer's hardware and place to do it. Pay TCAV a solid commission for connecting you. Speed, cost , quantity, quality.

3- Have an assistant to stick 20 documents on a magnetic board, and your 28 mm camera on a tripod, with plenty of light. Take a good 5 megs pic of the whole board. One board per minute, that should be about 1000 documents in an hour drinking some strong coffee, or 5000 documents in 5 hours of good sunlight.

With 10 different boards, 10 cameras, 10 photographers and 10 assistants, job would be done in 20 days :?:-).Speed, cost, quantity, but forget about the quality. At least all docs would be stored and readable...

4- Ask for an annual contract from your customer, purchase the hardware, andquietly scanthat million plus the on-going docs in a year.

Hope you get a decent money for that boring job...

I think you're looking at the duty cycle for making copies.

You wouldn't actually be making any copies.
