msliv-

I am happy to know that you found a good deal on the Canon G-9 and that you are a happy camper.

You may also want to look at photos posted on Flickr taken by G9 users. Here is a link that shows tons of examples of what people are doing with their G9.

Dennis.

Incredible pictures, oh, if only I could learn to take such excellent photos' I am signing up for a few lessons next month. I could only wish I would be able to do something similar.

Do you have any suggestions for learning photagrophy?

msliv,

I tend to buy books, read them, and try to apply the lessons there. Obviously, there are lots of folks on this and other camera forums and blogs, etc.. that are ready, willing, and able to share their excellent experience and knowledge, if you ask them. I'm in the learning stage myself, actually rediscovering some lost skills, due to lack of use.

Here are a couple of books you might consider purchasing to help you understand the G9 better, and to understand an important aspect of photography - exposure. There are many others out there, but I've been attracted to these for now.

You know, Dennis makes a very good point. I am a Community College Instructor in fact. I am sure that you can find all of the necessary Community College courses in Digital Photography right in your own area. And yes, there are very good books that are far less expensive than those Dennis has given you a link to. You are heading off on the trip of a life time in Norway. Your home country! Please go with some good knowledge to make the very best use of your Canon G-9 camera. If you are interested, now is the time to speak up.

Sarah.

Thank you, less expensive is good. I am signing up for a couple of classes at Leisure Learning Center in Houston, basic and advanced digital photagrophy. The classes don't start until next month, so I will look in to the Community College today.

In the meantime I will go to the bookstore and check out their books including the one Dennis recomended. Any other suggestion is ever so welcome.

Keep in mind that there is also a lot of information on line as well, and that is free. Have a great trip. For starters, begin following the Canon User Forum over at www.dpreview.com it i the largest concentration of G-9 users that I know about. And that is free as well.

In addition to the Forum Sarah mentioned, also try this one devoted to the G series of Canon cameras. It's quite active;
