it's time to upgrade from original Rebel. looking at XSI or D60. What's the camera of choice? Will be used for most everything.

What lenses do you already have?

The obvious choice would be to stay with Canon, since you can use the same lenses.

Is there anything in particular you find limiting with your existing setup that may make one camera stand out over another?

Present camera is only 6mp. No real great lens, just Tamron 28-200 and original kit lens. Would like to get latest and greatest. Besides the camera is in repair shop for broken CF pin and may cost more than worth.

Personally, I'd lean towards the Canon between these two choices. It's got a better Autofocus System compared to the Nikon, with more Autofocus lens choices (particulary where brighter primes are concerned, since Nikon left out the focus motor in the D40, D40x and D60 models, requiring lenses with built in motors if you want autofocus).

I'd try out the cameras in a store and make sure you're comfortable with your choice from an ergonomics perspective.

The best choice for one person, may not be the best choice for another. All of the entry level dSLR models are capable of taking great photos.

My vote in the entry level dSLR category would be for the Sony DSLR-A200

But, any opinion you see in the forums, including mine, is likely biased in one way or another. Different users are going to value different characteristics in a camera, and I currently shoot with a Sony DSLR-A700.

Jim's really hit the nail on the head!

I like the Pentax K200 because of the weather sealing (nice in the snow). But any of them take great pictures.
