I'm looking for a very, very compact basic digital camera that takes good pictures. I want somthing that's lightweight and easily slips into one's pant's pocket. Any recommendations? BTW: what's the smallest camera out there today?

Casio Z80 - only 100 grams (3.5 ounces). Picture quality is its weakest link.

Check the Canon SD790IS in a camera store, see if it's small enough. It's definitely small enough for regular trousers pockets, 5.5 oz, and the latest in a very popular line. Nikon also has some very small models that are very good. You may be surprised at how small these ultracompacts really are. It's partly a matter of taste.
