Hi,

I'm want to buy myself a new camera and I would really appreciate some advice on which of the Panasonic Lumix cameras would be a good option for someone who wants to take lots of photos of landscapes, murals and action shots- basically something to take with me on my travels that picks up details and colours well.

Many Thanks!

Hi! I suggest you try first a second-hand Lumix FZ-20. Won TIPA 2005, and not many cameras have 2.8 for the whole zoom-range (12x optical Leica lens). Erik.

I like my 5MP DMC-LZ3 Lumix. I think the color is quite good(but I'll let you decide it yourself from my sample shots) and the lens is faster than a lot compact cameras. (F2.8 @ 37mm [email protected] in between and [email protected]) It's got a 37-222mm 6x zoom. It's not perfect, but it's one of the best P&S I've had. I have a few cameras, but I use this camera a lot.

Although you don't get much control, you can actually do pretty neat long exposure using the pre-programmed night scenary and starry sky (15,30 and 60 secs) long exposure modes.

It's not ultra compact, but it's very user friendly in my opinion and more than adequate battery life on a charge of rechargeable AAs.

Get the older DMC-LZ2 or the newer LZ7. if you need sound on motion picture. The new 10MP LZ10 has a 30-150mm with a wider angle.
