I am doing some research on SLR's and think I have decided on the rebel XTI. I would like to buy as a package deal with a couple of lenses and a case kinda like the kits you see assembled on ebay. I have grown a little suspicious of sellers on ebay (due to a mishap last winter) and I'm not sure of where I can purchase something like this. Can anybody give me some locations to look? I would still purchase over ebay if I knew it was a reputable seller.

Most of the kits you see from Ebay vendors include junk (i.e., very low quality) lenses and accessories designed to make it look like the kit is worth more (showing inflated retail prices for the junk they're including). I'd suggest dealing with a reputable dealer instead. Here are a few:

http://www.buydig.com (a.k.a., http://www.beachcamera.com )

Sometimes, http://www.adorama.com has good deals, too

If you see prices much lower than these guys on Canon gear, it's probably a scam (gray market gear with a store versus manufacturers warranty, etc.).

I had a bad link to B&H in my last post (it's fixed now).

This is the best price I see right now on an XSi kit (XSi plus 18-55mm IS lens) from a dealer I'd feel comfortable doing business with. Buydig has it for $689 with free shipping:

Ooops... I see you said XTi versus XSi. An XTi kit is running $599 now there. But, the kit lens with it isn't stabilized if that's an issue (Canon started including a stablized kit lens with the newer XSi model, that's got higher optical quality compared to the older non-stabilized model).

gimp-

JimC has provided some very good internet retailers. I certainly agree with his list.

I kinda felt the same way about the ebay kits. I was looking at the kits that came with the cannon lenses which were running a little higher and seem to get better reviews. I am new to this so any advice is greatly appreciated. I have checked out the stores you listed and thanks for that help.
