First I will apologize twice. Once for being completely new to this and twice for asking dumb questions. People are always asking about camera selections and I thought I had my mind made up. I am completely new to all of this and looking to get into it. I thought I had my mind made up on the canon XSI but not sure now. I would eventually like to do some waterfowl photography and some of this may be on flying birds. I have been reading about the speed of the 40D and wonder if this wouldn't be a better choice for what I'm looking for. (this being the specific issue) and all else being equal.

Will the extra cost keep you from gettingthe lens(es) you need?

It may take a little longer but I don't see it stopping me from the lens. I have gathered that the camera is only as good as the attached glass.
