I am going to get a new camera for my girlfriend for Christmas, I know I am quite early to the party but since I am a total noob with cameras I started researching early.
She currently owns a Canon Ixus i5 or Canon PowerShot SD20 and I want her to easily notice the difference in the new one.

I have been looking at cameras for the past 10 days or so, but still haven't found that highly recommended by all reviewers camera that matches my criteria.

Cameras I have been looking at are:
Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX37 Pink
Sony CyberShot DSC-W150 Gold
Sony CyberShot DSC-W130 Pink
Canon SD1100 IS Pink

I know that there are cameras I have missed so feel free to suggest.

My criteria are quite simple, or at least I hope so.
  • Absolutely no black colour, Pink is always preferable. Of course if a camera that does not come in pink is much better than a pink one, screw the colour.
    [/*]
  • A better battery life than the one she owns would be nice.
    [/*]
  • The Ixus i5 is the one she owns and if possible the size should be around the bellow models with the W150 on the bigger size end.[/*]
Current Ixus i5 90.3 x 47.0 x 18.5
DSC-W150 Gold 93.7 x 58.0 x 24.0
DSC-W130 Pink 88,2 x 57,2 x 22,9
Lumix DMC-FX37 94.0 x 50.8 x 22.9

So which is the best camera in this category?

Two of these cameras made it to the Steve's Best Cameras list:

Canon SD 1100 and the Sony DSC-W150.

The Sony has the stronger battery of the two.

I would say the Sony has the a little more "wide angle" lens than the Canon - making it more useable.

I think the Sony has a little better image quality, so if I were making the choice I'd probably take a very good look at the Sony.

Firstly thank you for your contribution.

I already had a look in Steve's list and saw these two good cameras. It's just that different reviewers have different best cameras in the same category and that is what makes me a bit sceptical and decided to post in here.

So are the Canon SD 1100 and the Sony DSC-W150 the best cameras money can buy in that size?

EDIT:

A little update to the camera list, after after extended reading through all reviews from Steve, I am now officially between these 4:

Casio EX-Z300

CANON DIGITAL IXUS 870 IS( PowerShot SD880 IS)

Lumix DMC-FX37

Sony CyberShot DSC-W150

Looks like your capable of doing your own research.

Maybe ask your girlfriend which camera she's like.

Researching is ok, I was just hoping there would be someone with actual experience with these cameras.

Oh well, I'll keep on looking. Thanks.

I usually go out to Amazon.com and read the customer reviews.
