Hi

I have an old 35mm Chinon CS that I have used for over 20 years, and wanting to upgrade. My wife has a Cannon A720, and my son has a Fuji S5700 digital camera. Ever time I'm needed a camera theirs is missing or has low batterys.

I'm wanting my own to save the headache. My main purpose will be to take close ups of my knives to post on my web and print. Will also be used for vacations, outdoors, etc.

I have been looking a couple of years at the ones around $700, like the Nikon D50,D40,D60 and some Cannon like the Rebel . I've not check on any other cause I don't what to look for. I have been check out the reviews .

I haven't been able to try any on taking shots of knives close up. Any suggestion on what lens? I'm about 90 miles away from a camera shop, or Best Buy,etc. and try to stop in when I get a chance.

Would I be better with a camera with a attached lens or a D-SLR?

Thanks

Rick

Do you like the picture quality of the A720? If not, you probably won't be satisfied with the picture quality of any point and shoot and should purchase a DSLR.

The A720 takes good pictures, for everthing so far, but not sure on close ups. I haven't used it enough to find out.
